Aerolase

Hair Removal

Laser hair removal uses a combination of heat and energy to destroy the hair follicle without harming the skin around it. The LightPod Neo laser offers patients a uniquely pain-free and gentle way to get rid of any unwanted hair. Most patients who have been treated by other lasers say that being treated with the LightPod Neo is much gentler and more pleasant. During laser hair removal, the hair must be in its growing phase in order to be successfully destroyed. To ensure that all hair is effectively removed during the growing phase, you will receive a series of treatments spaced 3-4 weeks apart. This will successfully ensure maximum results.

Some patients will not respond as well as others. Patients with dark hair will respond best. Those patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) may also have a less than optimal response to laser hair removal.

PFB

PFB (Pseudofolliculitis Barbae, i.e. ingrown hairs, razor bumps or beard bumps) is an irritating condition that is commonly caused by shaving. It often appears in patients with darker skin. The laser selectively targets melanin in the underlying hair and follicle, as well as hyperpigmentation surrounding the lesion. Because of the 650-microsecond pulse duration, the energy passes through the skin quickly and does not overheat the epidermal melanin to effectively treat the condition.

Setting expectations

A very good result with LHR is when approx. 15% clearance is achieved in each treatment session, and a final outcome of clearance of 80% or more after 6 treatments is exceptional.  Also, some patients will respond very little, or not at all, even if all the settings and technique are properly applied; this is most likely due to hormonal conditions or other medical issues.

  • The patient should shave 2 or 3 days before the procedure, leaving small 2 to 3mm stubs of hair.

If the laser lens and fluence setting are chosen correctly, many hairs will singe upon contact with the laser beam and will disappear. Some hairs which are in a dormant growth phase will not respond at all, although some of them will be damaged even if they did not singe. Laser treatment for nail fungus is safe, quick and highly effective. Most patients are able to be clear of their infection with only one or two treatments. Laser procedures for nail fungus are proven to be a much safer and effective method as compared to oral medications or topical creams. One of the key aspects of eradicating nail fungus is to achieve penetration of the laser energy into the nail bed.
